Faceoff

     Y/nity was on earth, sitting cross-legged on the beach as he stared down at the crying Steven. Spinel sat on the fusion's shoulder as she also looked down at the crying child.

Spinel: Sooooooo... why are ya crying?

Steven: I-I don't know!

Y/n: Ohhhh it's that time isn't it..... oh well, might aswell try my best, though this is a bit early?

Spinel: Huh? What are we doing?

Y/n: Let's tell Steven the truth about Rose.

Spinel: Oh! Really! Are we really doing it!

Y/n: Yep! So Steven.... Rose Quartz, your mother, is actually Pink Diamond. However she disguised herself as Rose and made a whole war with herself just to escape from her sisters!

Spinel: Yep, and in order to do that she actually left me in a garden for as long as I can remember!

Unity: Don't worry though, only a few of us are still upset at her.

Y/n: And that is basically, yeah that's it, Pink started a entire war with, experimentation, shattering, and a lot of drama.... just to escape her sisters. Then she faked her death so the Diamonds would leave earth alone and she could enjoy earth. So how are you feeling.

Steven’s tears slowed as he stared at Y/nity, his face a mixture of confusion, hurt, and disbelief.

Steven: W-wait... you're saying my mom, Rose Quartz, was actually Pink Diamond? And she... she did all of that? Just to... escape? To live here?

Spinel hopped off Y/nity's shoulder and plopped down beside Steven, her expression softening.

Spinel: Yup. Pretty wild, huh? Pink wasn’t exactly the best at making good choices, kiddo. Trust me, I’ve had lots of time to think about it.

Steven: But... she was a hero! She fought for Earth! She... she loved me!

Y/nity tilted their head, their face calm but unwavering.

Y/n: She did love you, Steven. But Rose, or Pink, wasn’t perfect. She was messy, flawed, and made choices that hurt a lot of people... even you.

Spinel: Yeah, but ya know what? You’re not her. You don’t have to carry all her baggage just ‘cause you came out of her gem, got it?

Steven: But how am I supposed to feel about this? About her? About me?

Y/nity leaned forward, his voice steady and reassuring.

Y/n: You feel however you need to, Steven. Sad, angry, betrayed, those are all okay. Just remember, you get to decide who you are. Not Pink, not Rose, not anyone else. You.

Spinel grinned and nudged Steven playfully.

Spinel: And hey, if you ever feel like punching a wall or screamin’ into the void, lemme know! I’m great at those!

Steven couldn’t help but laugh a little, though his tears hadn’t completely stopped.

Steven: Thanks... I think I needed to hear that. Even if it’s... a lot.

Y/nity gave a small nod.

Y/n: That’s the thing about truth, it’s heavy. But you’re strong enough to carry it, Steven. Stronger than you know.

Steven wiped his eyes and looked out at the ocean, the waves crashing gently against the shore.

Steven: I’ll try. I... I think I need some time to process all this.
