DELILAH

Concern flashes over Vante's features when I tell him and he hurries for the elevator as fast as he can.

I follow behind him, choosing rather to stay silent as his mind raced. Every thought that crosses his mind crept their way onto his features.

The elevator ride feels like an eternity and gives my mind the time to race as well. Stress makes my heartbeat quicken as possible scenarios cross over my thoughts.

Is it about Leonardo? Does he know about the hotel? Does he know where I live?

It all panics me inside and I fiddle with my fingers. A part of me hopes and prays that he hasn't found us. Yet another part of hopes that, if he has, he won't harm Romeo or Carmela at all. I hope I'll be able to protect them.

If I were to lose any of them...I would break.

I'd rather he took me instead of anyone else.

The elevator snaps me out of my thoughts and I hurry along with Vante through the suite to get to Peter. We pass the children who all watch TV together in lounge.

When we get to the room, Peter is sitting on the edge of the bed with laboured breaths coming out of him.

Sofia is sat next to him with concern etched all over her face lair with reddening eyes.

"Peter, what is it?" Vante urges as he inches closer to Peter.

I'm about to enter too but a tug at the sleeve of the hoodie stops me. I turn to be greeted with Romeo's smiling face and it melts my heart. All the panic I had before of losing him dissipates when I instinctively pick him up to hold him as close to me as I can. I take in his powdery scent and embrace him tightly.

Oh, please never let me lose him. He may believe I'm a stranger he chose to be his mother, but to me he will be my son. I refuse to let anyone take him from me.

Romeo giggles into my ear as he pulls himself back from the hug. "You smell like, Papa,"

I return his happy smile, embracing the feeling of having him in my arms

When Peter lets out a grunt, I turn my attention towards him, though I keep Romeo held in my arms.

"Last night..." He begins in between those laboured breaths. "DeLuca got me, I don't know how but—"

Peter attempts to stand up but Sofia keeps him down. "You'll break the stitches, take it slow,"

Peter takes a sharp inhale before he speaks again with a raspy, desperate voice. "DeLuca knows...where Delilah lives. You need to get—Carmela away from there...now."l

C-Cammy?

My entire body stiffens and my eyes widen. The breath gets caught in my throat and I don't realise I've put Romeo down until he's running to Vante who turns to face me with panic in his eyes.

My feet move in their own and I'm running for the nearest exit of this place.

I don't even know how the fuck I'm getting back to my apartment, but if I have to run there I'll do it. I need to get Carmela to safety as fast as I can.

My heart rate speeds up, banging against my rib cage and I feel the adrenaline rushing to my head.

I decide the elevator will take too long and run for the stairs as fast as I can.

My feet carry me, the adrenaline pushes me to go faster, not even caring if I were to fall. The thought of losing Carmela distracts me from the tears that blur my eyes.
